The Mouse Motion Swing attempts to duplicate the same sort of movement as swinging a real-life golf club.

Your speed, steadiness, length and rhythm can all effect the quality of your stroke, when you play these games online.

PC games that have the mouse motion swing are the Tiger Woods, Links 2003 and Golden Tee games. Some of the game companies offer free demo games. So you can download free golf games.

You can get a free 3-hole demo of the Tiger Woods 2004 game from EA Sports. Play holes 16 through 18 on the Black Course at Bethpage Golf Course, site of the 2002 U.S. Open.

How to do the 3-Click Swing in GoldenFairwayFX

Considering that real-life golf is a series of trade-offs.. the same is true as you play games online. Both distance and accuracy, are needed as you go from the Tee to the Green.

In GoldenFairwayFX there are three ways to hit the ball, after you download the free golf game and play then games online. All requiring three mouse clicks.

1 - Full Power Shot

2 - Power Control Shot

3 - Chip Shot

Begin by placing your cursor over the Shot Ball in the lower right part of the game screen.

A picture of a circular disc will appear.

The line at the top of the disc, at 12 o'clock, is your accuracy mark.

The line at the bottom, at the 6 o'clock position, is the mark for power or distance, primarily. It effects your accuracy, too.

Accuracy and distance are a major balancing act, whether you play these games online or you are out standing in the grass with the ball at your feet.

1 - Full Power Shot

The Full Power Shot, done correctly, will produce the maximum distance of the selected Wood or Iron.

You must click at 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock precisely for full power. If not, the power and accuracy will be greatly reduced.

Click Sequence

First Click - Starts your swing

The disc gradually changes color from blue to red in a clockwise motion.

Second Click - Maximizes power and is important for shot accuracy

Click the second time at exactly 6 o'clock, ie. when the right half of the disc is completely red. Less than precise timing decreases power dramatically. With Woods, there is a high likelihood of a slice occurring.

Third Click - For Accuracy

Click the third time when the red part of the disc returns to the 12 o'clock position, completing the swing. Clicking too early will cause a slice. Too late a click results in a hook.

For best results, click exactly when the red color reaches 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock, as you play these games online with the traditional three-click swing.

2 - Power Control Shot

The Power Control Shot is used exclusively with the Pitching Wedge, Sand Wedge, and the Putter.

The distance of the shot depends on the time interval between the first and second click. Just like a Full Power Shot, you must click for a third time precisely at the 12 o'clock position to complete the swing.

For example:

To make a 50 yard approach shot with the Pitching Wedge (maximum distance 100 yards), the shot's power must be reduced by 50%. To do a Power Control Shot, click for the second time when the red disc reaches 3 o'clock (exactly 50% of a 6 o'clock click) to reduce the power of the shot by half.

3 - Chip Shot

Chip Shots are used to escape from a bad lie by using a short, low-trajectory shot.

Your second click must be before the red disc reaches 4 o'clock, marked by the light blue area of the disc. The earlier the click, the less the power.

Again, the third click is at 12 o'clock, completing the swing.

A well-hit chip shot goes about one-quarter of the maximum distance rated for each club, when you play the games online.
